Momento

I recently watched the film Memento in class. It was really confusing, but good. The film is about a man named Lenard who loses his short term memory after his wife is killed. He has to live his life through Polaroid pictures he takes. He also tattoo's his body things that he needs to remember and make reference to. His life basically revolves around these facts and the purpose of them is to find his wife's killer. Sometimes the the facts dont make sence though and he has to improvise. He finally finds who he thinks is wifes killer but did he get the right guy? you will have to watch to find out! I found this film confusing because like i said earlier sometomes the facts he has doesnt really add up. I reccomend this film for people who like to figure things out through clues and like to stand at the edge of your seat. It also has a neat effect yo it. You watch the film from backwards to forwards. Meaning you know the end of the movie before the plot or anything begins. Also if i had to take anything in from watching this movie, it would be that you shouldn't take anything for granted and live it up because you may not remember it tomarrow.

In my film class we recently watched the movie groundhog day. Its a story about a man who relives the same day over and over again. Through out this continuous days he tries to commit suicide, Get a woman in to bed and many other things. Then he finally realizes that he should be nice and falls in love with the woman, helps old ladies with their car, helps and old man and many other things as well. All of this seemed to have started with the groundhog seeing his shadow and haveing the winter last until march. My favorite part of this film is when the cycle of an endless day is over. Then everything he did was worth it and he had changed into a better man. I think the lesson to be learned form this film is that you should live every day as if its your last. You should want everyday to be a good day not a bad one.

Babel

I recently watched the film Babel. It is a film about 4 different cultures trying to survive their lifes hardships. At first it seems as if the familys have nothing to do with eachother and then you find out that they are all connected through one symbol. I think this symbol really portrays the theme that you should not trust others around you. If you cant trust them then stay away. I thought this was a strong theme because almost all of the familys in the film struggle with trust. They dont really know who to turn to for help. This movie also had alot of great footage. It took place in 4 different countreys, Japan, Morocco, Mekico, and U.S. Everytime the story changed you really got a feel for the way the people lived and how all the cultures were so different. The camera always got you right into the action which left you on the edge of your seat. If you want to know what i mean by intense check out the trailor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syfU7drScwg I also hear that Babel is similar to the movie crash. I was told that Babel is better but crash is very similar and a must see as well. I really encourage you to see this film. I think that both genders would really enjoy it and its really interesting. If you do watch it, my favorite part was when Brad Pitt(main character) was in the hut with his wife Kate Blanchett(main character). You could tell that they realy loved eachother and that he was going to do what ever it took to save her. She got shot in morocco by the way and they are in the middle of no where. I cant even imagine what i would do if i were faced with that situation. All i can say is watch it. Its clearly a great film too because it was on the 100 greatest films list!

Singin' in the rain

So i recently watched the film Singin' In The Rain starring Gene Kelly. The film was about a famous actor who makes it gig in Hollywood. He co-stars with an actress name Lina who loves him and is very annoying. Together they do silent films so only their acting matters. Well soon the talking movie is becoming popular and Lina is terrible at them. The acting that she was use to had to change. Meanwhile Don, the famous actor meets an aspiring actress named Kathy. He somehow finds her and they begin a romance. This bothers Lina because she likes Don and wants him to like her back. On top of all that Kathy becomes Lina's voice in the talking films because Lina is terrible at it. In the end everything works out.
I really enjoyed this film. It was an entertaining romantic comedy. Everything about it was good other then how predictable it was. My favorite scene though was of Gene Kelly singing the movie titled song Singin' In The Rain. This is my favorite because he just looks so happy. He really likes Kathy and that's all he can think about. I just think its so cute! He is also a really good singer and acts well in this scene. The rain in the background looks so real. All it is though is water sprayers that move as Gene Kelly does. I really recommend this classic film. I think many people can relate to it, and would enjoy it!
